Hello everyone!<\/span><\/p>\n

Miyako Island is located approximately 300 km southwest of the main island of Okinawa.<\/span><\/p>\n

What kind of image do you have of Miyako Island?<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of you may say, \"I've never heard of ......,\" while others may have visited many times, attracted by the beautiful ocean and white beaches.<\/span><\/p>\n

First, let me briefly explain about the island of Miyako.<\/span><\/p>\n

Miyako Island, an island far to the south of the mainland, has a subtropical climate and is always warm throughout the year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even during the winter months of December through February, there are many days with a maximum temperature of 20\u00b0C or higher, making the environment comfortable enough to spend the daytime with only a short-sleeved shirt without problems.<\/span><\/p>\n

The most unique feature of Miyako Island is its beautiful, clear blue ocean, known as \"Miyako blue.<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked about the color of the ocean, most people probably think of blue.<\/p>\n

But the actual ocean is often colorless, gray, dull, or at best, a slightly dull blue, right?<\/span><\/p>\n

But the sea of Miyakojima is not a metaphor, but a real blue.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is an environment created by a complex interplay of several factors.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the reasons for this is that the waters around Miyako Island are a coral reef colony.<\/span><\/p>\n

When coral reefs break up, they have the property of turning into white-tinted debris.<\/span><\/p>\n

And there are huge deposits of coral debris in the sea around Miyakojima.<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, the seabed near Miyako Island is pure white, and this white seabed strongly reflects sunlight from the sky.<\/span><\/p>\n

The blue wavelengths in the light reach the surface of the ocean, creating the blue color of the ocean.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the years, such coral fragments have also washed up on the beach as well as on the ocean floor.<\/span><\/p>\n

The large number of white debris piled up on top of each other creates the pure white beach that is one of the characteristics of Miyako Island.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, Miyako Island itself benefits greatly from coral.<\/span><\/p>\n

That being said, Miyako Island was actually created by the uplift of coral reefs on the ocean floor.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a result, Miyako Island has a flat terrain with very few ups and downs throughout the island.<\/span><\/p>\n

This topography is one of the reasons why the sea of Miyakojima is so blue and beautiful.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are no mountains or rivers on the island, and there is no runoff of soil, sand, or soil nutrients from the rivers to the sea.<\/span><\/p>\n

This keeps the ocean clean because it is not polluted with mud and plankton do not gather to seek nutrients in the soil.<\/span><\/p>\n

In other words, Miyako Island has been formed from the past to the present based on coral reefs.<\/span><\/p>\n
